4th Of July In Hawaii

by One Pacific Realty Inc

Did you know?

  • The first 4th of July celebration in Hawaii was held in 1843. It was organized by King Kamehameha III and featured a parade, a speech by the king, and a fireworks display.

  • In the early days of statehood, many Hawaiians felt that the 4th of July was not their holiday. They felt that it was a celebration of American culture, and that it did not reflect the unique culture of Hawaii. However, over time, the 4th of July has become more accepted by the people of Hawaii as a day to celebrate their independence and their heritage.

  • Hawaii became a state in 1959, so the 4th of July is a relatively new holiday for the islands. However, we have been celebrating the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence for centuries, long before Hawaii became a part of the United States.

  • Here are a few fireworks displays happening this year on the 4th.

    • North shore — July 4th Festival, Fireworks & Vintage Car Show with fireworks set to star at 8 p.m.

    • Kailua — July 4th fireworks start at 8p.m. with shuttles running between Longs Parking lot bus stop and The Beach Center between 4:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

  • In addition to fireworks, there are many other ways to celebrate the 4th of July in Hawaii. Some popular activities include attending parades, concerts, and barbecues. Enjoy two days of live entertainment during Ala Moana Center's 4th of July Concert Series on July 3rd and 4th. Join some of Hawaii's most talented artists as they perform on Centerstage 11:30am-6pm.
